I wish could have attended the BBQ with all my close friends, like every other Australia Day. But instead I am at home getting all the walls and doors ready to paint and listening to the Hottest 100 count down on triple j . We want to put our house on the market as soon as possible so its a sacrifice I am happy to make. My hubby had to head to work this afternoon and my dad came over to fix some cracks in the plaster. There was white dust everywhere, but the kids helped me clean it up . Dad also made us some home brew beer that I can't wait to open! Alex, Phoenix and Skye have adorned themselves with temporary tattoos. How's your Australia Day going?

My Sister
My sister Megan was a big support to me on Saturday. My husband was working, so we went to a few open for inspections. I still don't think I have found the one yet. People keep telling me when I find our next house, I will just know its the One. So far I haven't had the feeling. But I am going back on Tuesday with my husband to give one of them a second look. Its at the low end of our budget and would need a big renovation to make it livable. It's got horrible red paint on the walls in the living room and green in the kitchen and stinks of cigarette smoke. But it has four bedrooms, an ensuite, a second living space and a large backyard (large enough to bulid an outdoor studio).

Practicing
At the moment when I am not house hunting or making hair accessories, I am trying to decide if I am any good when I comes to photography. I really enjoy it, sometimes a shot comes out of my camera and it takes my breath away, and I say to myself "Wow Kelly you did it". And then times I feel like I am the worst photographer in the world and I have no skills. So when my girls came to me dressed up with eyeshadow and lip gloss on and asked me to take some pictures - I was more than happy to practice on them!

Changes
It's been an interesting start to the year. Changes are already starting to take place. My husband & I are thinking of selling our house and moving to something bigger. The five of us have out grown our tiny three bedroom home. This is both exciting and scary. I fell in love and became a mum in this house.
I really need a bigger area that I can call my own to make my hair accessories in. I have been working in a small section of our lounge room for the last 5 years, that I called my studio. Last week we moved my studio to the garage, so far its working out OK (a bit hot this week with the warmer weather in Melbourne). I am going to try and make this temporary spot as pretty as I can. But really who wants to create beautiful things in a tin shed forever! So we are looking for the perfect new home, and its not as easy as I thought it would be. But I do have a house crush...and nothing else compares to it yet. On Friday afternoon we get to walk though it and see if its a lovely as the pictures online tell us it is.
Skye's 6th Birthday
On Saturday we celebrated Skye's 6th Birthday. Time fly's by so fast, I can't believe my baby is now such a big girl.
We started off with afternoon tea; fruit punch, popcorn, caramel slice, strawberries & marshmallows with chocolate dipping sauce, cupcakes, chocolate crackles, peanut butter slice, chips, crackers and dip. I was going to make fairy bread too, but I forgot all about it. Skye's birthday cake was a four layer pink cake complete with homemade ribbon bunting.
After eating and playing for a few hours some of us walked down to the park to work off some of that sugar and the rest stay back to clean up afternoon tea to make room for dinner preparations.
Almost everyone stayed and had roast lamb and chicken, with roast potatoes and salads. I drank a little too much wine and had a hangover the next day.
Skye had fantastic day with close friends, my cousin Lee & her husband Gaz (Its times like these I wished my parents celebrated birthdays).
