self portrait {seven}

I had a few creative self portrait ideas I wanted to try today, but I just ran out of time. I quickly grabbed my camera this afternoon just before all light faded and snapped this shot in the bathroom mirror! I have noticed that I wear too much black, I need to add some colour to my closet this spring.

I am in love with lightroom! It makes editing easy and you can create interesting looking images.

not so lazy anymore

Skye can be so lazy sometimes. She is the youngest in the family which means that she expects everyone else to do everything for her. Lately I have been trying to encourage self dressing. I have tried before without success; she will happily spend the day in her pyjamas rather then put clothes on all by herself. So in the end I choose her clothes and dress her myself.

Hurray! I seem to have finally had a win, that last two days she has got up in the morning and picked her own clothes and got herself dressed before I have gotten out of bed. Maybe she just needed me to stop nagging her to do it.

Today she put this little outfit together. And we went outside to take some pictures. I love the hot pink and aqua together, she seems to like colour which is most excellent!

Be back later to post my self portrait…

point and shoot: driving me crazy

This picture was snapped on Sunday morning of Phoenix and Skye on the top bunk bed.  After my little monsters have spend most of the weekend fighting with each other and driving me crazy.  It was nice to see them actually playing together and enjoying each others company. Even though it lasted for for just a moment.

Playing point and shoot at fatmumslim's today!

this moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. SouleMama

walk around the block

I have been so busy working the last two weeks. As much as I love making pretty things all day, I am beginning to go stir crazy couped up inside for so long. I put down my glue gun this morning and Skye and I went for a little walk. It's freezing cold in Melbourne today, and we weren't out for long before it started to rain. But here are a couple of pictures I took…

conversation in the car

Doing the school run this morning l I was listening to my Franz Ferdinand CD in the car, and the song “No you Girls” came on

The conversation in the back-sit went a bit like this:

Skye “I don’t like this song”

Phoenix “Why not Skye, I love this song”

Skye “I don’t like when he talks about the kissing part”

Phoenix “one day Skye you are going to grow up and a boy will kiss you, and you will get a house, have babies and marry him”

Skye was silent. I don’t know if it was because she doesn’t like this idea or if she accepts this is what could happen.

Phoenix was pretty much describing how Reuben and I got together when we were 18, I fell in love and it started with a kiss, I moved in to his house 2 months later, pregnant with our first Alex 5 months in and then had another two babies Phoenix and Skye after that we finally got married. It might sounds like we did things the wrong away around, but it was the perfect way to do things for us!

point and shoot: the good and the bad

My weekend was freckled with the good and the bad.

The Bad: Our pre-booked tickets to see Salt in the cinema were not used as my sister the babysitter was vomiting on Friday night (hope you are feeling better soon Meg), a trip to the hospital on Saturday to visit my mum she slipped whilst cleaning my sisters vomit and broken her leg (she is still in hospital awaiting surgery), the voting line sucked so cold and wet and I spend another Sunday inside the house making orders.

The Good: $3.50 bargain flowers sitting on my dinning room table (see pic above), my wonderful husband cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast, trying out a new recipe, and it was delicious, my beautiful children mostly happy all weekend, roast chicken for Sunday dinner, started reading a new book, good beer and lots of sleep.

How was your weekend? Visit fatmumslim to see more from point and shoot!

look what I made

I took a small break from making orders to make something new. So naturally I need to blog about them too.  I should properly be blogging about these on my store blog but I am not really to launch them yet.

I have had these visions in my head for months about all the things I could do with my new handmade necklace range. I have made a few for my daughters, and my friends daughters and everyone has loved them.

But I am stuck on what to call them! Felt button necklaces sounds so boring. I want the name to be creative and pretty. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Point & Shoot + Weekend Wrap Up

Point and Shoot:

This weeks point and shoot picture wasn't taken my me. My mum snapped this shot of my children riding on uncle Willam's quad bike on his little farm when they visited on Saturday. William and Vickies little white fluffy dog named Princess, loves to sit on his shoulders all the time my children tell me. How cute it that?

Play along with point and shoot over at fatmumslim's!

Weekend Wrap Up:

My husband crashed my date night with myself. He decided that the footy didn’t compare with time alone with me whilst our children were away with the grandparents. We went out for dinner and to a movie. The next morning woke early and took our dogs for a walk and we met up with friends for breakfast. We went shopping for clothes together which is something we rarely do.

Reuben had to go to work in the late afternoon. I spent my last couple of hours for freedom on Saturday afternoon cooking dinner for my parents to enjoy when they dropped off the kids. It was bliss to have 24 hours without our children. It was so quiet and so lovely to be just a couple for a little while.

last moments

I have been so busy trying to keep up with my hair clip business. I feel like I am missing the last of our special moments together.

At the start of the year I was excited about the fact that this would be the last year Skye would be home with me (except for kinder sessions). I was looking forward to having all three children at school. I would be great for my little home business; my attentions would be less divided during the day. I could do wholesale orders, expand my range and turnaround times would be quicker....

But just in the last couple of weeks it has hit me that I only have a few months left with her at home with me. Next year she will be a big girl starting her first year at school. I am overcome with sadness at the thought of losing her to the big wide world.

What does a stay at home mum do when all her children are at school?

ten on ten

Ten on Ten:  Ten pictures taken in ten consecutive hours on the tenth of the month. Documenting the beauty in a single day of my life.
