Spending time with Alex

{Alex icing cupcakes}
I have read how important it is to spend one on one time with each of your children, and I really like the idea of it. But it’s just not something I find time to do often. There aren’t enough hours in the day to include everything that I would like to do...

Alex is 12, and she is my first born. She seems to be the one who missing out on the one on one time with me the most. I think this is because she is the oldest and she needs less help with things.

This weekend Alex and I spend one on one time together, and I realised how important it really is for bonding and nurturing a good long lasting relationship with her. Alex will be entering her teenage years all too quickly and If I don’t try harder I might lose her forever.

We made cupcakes together! Then Alex and I left everyone else at home and went to the movies. Just mum and daughter hanging out, it was so much fun.

The Last Airbender was fantastic, if you like fantasy and adventure movies this one is for you! P.S it has Jackson Rathbone in it (plays Jasper in Twilight)

What a lovely idea - sounds like the most perfect day and I'm sure you'll both remember it for such a long time x

Excellent. I couldn't agree more.

The Boy is about to pee his pants he wants to see Airbender so bad. I'm glad it's good. Maybe that can be "our time", cause Lord knows The Girl won't be a bit interested.

a wonderful idea. i find it so hard to do though...just like you said. i have been trying to get my husband to understand this concept, he seems to be stuck on this idea that we all have to do everything together as a family. i think one on one time is essential.

I grew up in a family of four kids and my parents tried to have 'private time' with each of us on a regular basis. Now that it is my turn, I love the idea but it doesn't seem to happen nearly enough. I am totally inspired by your post though and am going to try to prioritise it. Thanks.

Good for you! It sounds like you made the most of your 1:1 time too. Teenagerhood. A whole new phase!
