Last night was a sad night when I discovered Skye had cut her own hair. She has butchered it, and I don’t think I will be able to put it in piggy tails anymore. {See before the hair cut pictures here} Skye’s hair is very fine and it is slow growing. She has only ever had two hair cuts in the four years and 9 months she has been on earth. When I asked her why she did it, she said “I don’t want to wear hair clips anymore”. I was devastated, it was like being punch in the face. My business is all about hair clips, and now my daughter hates them!
I think it is sort of rite of passage for my children to cut their hair around this age. Phoenix did it two weeks before our wedding, and tried to hide it under his pillow. His hair looked so bad it even had bald spots. Alex did it at school one day when she was in prep, hoping I wouldn't notice. Skye just came out of her room and left the evidence on the floor and sat on my lap and look at me waiting for my reaction.

The little minx! I quite like how it looks though. She may be a hairdresser in the making?
Our daughters have a lot in common.
The Girl butchered her hair, but the end result was actually a blessing. Odd...I just posted about it.
Your girl is a beauty, cut hair or not. But I know you know that.
ohh Kelly!
is it any help that she still looks mighty cute anyway...probably not.
Amelie did it last week, I heard a snip & ran, luckily it was only some hairs off the end, nothing drastic.
i think they just go through it as you said.
I have to check out your hairclips.
it's ok mum, luckily an eye wasn't taken out. Skye does look very cute though.
♥
For what it's worth she still looks super sweet!
My son will be four exactly a month from today, and has never tried to cut his hair - but a few times now I've caught him holding his 'safe' scissors and going for MY hair!
lol my kids haven't cut their hair yet. It looks cute :)
My little boy cut his hair. I noticed because there was hair in the sink.
When I asked him why he responded, 'I don't want my curls anymore'.
I have had a day to get used to it, and i've calmed down alittle. Very true it does look cute! hehe, I like all your stories about hair and scissors too.
Can I say - aww, but so funny! And she just looks like she's done some layering. What *was* your reaction?
Bron - I tried not to show her how upset I was, I told her she shouldn't have cut her hair at all and confiscated her purple scissors.
ooo that is cheeky of her to sit on your lap and wait! but yeah, i guess cutting your own hair is definitely a phase. (heck, i did it two weeks ago!)
hihi, such a little rascal! but I kinda like how it turned out :)
oh no! So funny about the hairclips!Rebellion already? :) My sister shaved half her hair off in the shower when she was 3. She wore a hat for quite a while!
ugh! i think it looks cute myself but i would be upset, too. i think it is a phase and her wanting to show some independence...just hide all scissors in your house!
I think every child does it at least once. It is some sort of rite of passage.
I think she looks great!!
I think a lot of kids do this...when my son was probably four years old, he did the same thing. I found the evidence in the toilet, lol. Her hair actually looks cute. =)
Awwh. She looks good, but its its no even hair dressers you'll have to go.
I did that to my mum when I was little I cut myself the smallest fringe ever. The one we where trying to grow out.
We've had an attack of the scissors at our place too - instant fringe. Cappers didn't quite go to town like Skye has, though. I think she's showing what an independent, confident child she is and that's terrific. But, no more scissors, little miss!
Don't forget that little clips look FABULOUS in shorter hair too!! x
Awwww...she looks so cute!
My daughter cut her own and her younger brother's hair when she was about 4; I over-heard her saying, "want me to bald you?" When I went rushing into the room there were tufts of his and her hair all over the floor.
My daughter has chopped her doll's hair and her brother's hair. But not yet her own. I am waiting for the inevitable!
Oh dear!
