magazine obsession

I love magazines! I love the smell, the feel, the written words, the ideas, the recipes and most of all the pretty pictures. My favourite ones include; Notebook, RealLiving, Home Beautiful, House & Garden, Donna Hay, Good Food, Shop 4 kids, and many more! I still have my witchcraft ones that I purchase was I was 21, but thats a story for another post.

I buy one each week, sometimes it once a day depending on when a new addition is on the supermarket shelf. I should properly look into yearly subscriptions and try and save some money. If I counted up how much I spend on magazines at month I might have a stroke. I am also running out of places to store them. I have a magazine stack in almost every room of the house.

I get a little rush every time I purchase one, I can’t wait to sit at home with a cuppa and flick through all the beautiful pages. Then I start to fantasise about living in all the pretty houses with their beautiful gardens. Then I see the gorgeous lamp with the purple shade that would look perfect in our bedroom next to all my books. I also enjoy trying out some of the recipes I see, some make it onto our regular menu and others I would never make again. I’ll read an article and I relate too, and it feels so good.

Does anyone else love magazines as much as I do? What are your favourites?

I love magazines too. My one, essential must-buy is Notebook, other's I'll consider and probably buy include Home Beautiful, House & Garden, Vogue - and my fave English mags {She is my all-time must-have, still cheaper in price than any Aussie version}.

That reminds me, new Notebook. went on sale yesterday - must buy!

Trust me the subscriptions don't end up saving you any money! I don't get the same pleasure from getting it in the post as I do picking it up off the shelf as a little reward for myself. So I end up buying more to get that litle rush.

I like Real Simple, mainly for the photography. I also subscribe to Cooking Light, Popular Photography, and Crochet Today.

When I was breastfeeding and had to pump (three times a day, every day while at work), I would buy 3 trash magazines like Life & Style and In Touch per week. I would read those while sitting and letting the machine gather food for my babe. I'm convinced pointless celebrity gossip was the reason I made such an abundance of milk.

You have got to love a magazine. But to show how truly unartful and ungirly I am, I have a subscription to both Money magazine and Wild magazine. Not a bit of house porn in this house :)

I'm a total magazine junkie. We are very similar, you and I (although I can't wait to find out more about your witchcraft phase!!) I'm very into house porn (it was my LOML who first coined the term).

I subscribe to Home Beautiful, Real Living, Country Style, Notebook, Frankie, Inside Out and Marie Claire. I also regularly purchase UK Country Living which is my escape to a more gentler lifestyle.

I also love Real Simple and Lonnymag.com - both great online pubs.

I am very interested in MultipleMum's post above as I bought her a subscription to Real Living for her birthday last year and she swore she loved it and then swore she loved it again when I found a month old edition still in its wrapper hidden under a pile of books on her table!! Next time I'll stick to Money mag for that one!! x

Peppermint is my absolute fave at the moment, but I've been through phases of others ... I loved Real Living for aaaaaaaaaaages but now that I'm in a one bedroom unit, it's just frustrating - no garden to fix up, and my place is exactly as I like it. Guarantee next time I'm planning a move I'll be straight back into it though!

I used to like Marie Claire but these days ... I just can't relate it to my life in any way. The fashion is too expensive, I'm not really into celebrity stuff, and I'm by no means a makeup fiend. Sometimes I like the feature stories, sometimes not ... I'd buy it out of habit and it'd end up buried under paperwork or kicked under the couch and I'd pull it out and be like, oh hey! Haven't read that yet! Flick through .. and put it down again because it just didn't excite me anymore!

I love them too! I just bought Notebook today, and recently I've been buying Real Living, Womens Health... I used to be addicted to NW but I try to avoid gossip mags these days! But oh yes, I love them!

Oooh so glad to hear from other magazine junkies! It takes away some of my guilt for buying soooo many. I love real living, notebook, belle, vogue & vogue living, harpers bazaar, not to mention all the fashion and a few trashy gossip mags too! Love getting subscriptions for my bday or chrissy. xx

I love love love magazines but I don't read them over and over so I recycle them when I am done with them :)

Real Living, House and Garden, Home Beautiful. I used to love Madison, but I must have grown out of it - it just doesn't do it for me any more. I've been trying new mags lately - photography ones and I'll admit to buying trashy ones - the trashier the better, like NW. And I've just discovered Frankie - it's such a sweet little mag.

Yep me too! I love Notebook, Frankie, Peppermint, Real Living and I used to love Marie Claire but i haven't loved the last few editions that I have purchased...

I saw a magazine called Yen in my local newsagent the other day...looks very nice...have you ever read it? I'm thinking this could become my newest magazine discovery

Oohhh yes. LOVE my magazines. And - I consider them not to be a waste of money because I keep them. All. Oh yes. Lined up in order on shelves.

And I don't like to subscribe because I like making a decision at the newsagent. I know. I am total magazine nerd.

My oldest copy is from when I was 16. 16! That means I've been carting it around for 16 years. Gulp. It's a copy of Australian Vogue.

Now I read all the home titles (used to work in interior and reno) and dip into the fashion, teen and tween (used to work in tween) but faves are Frankie (now doing some freelance for - yay!), Russh, Vogue (British, US and UK...sometimes Italian and French too) Country Style and Shop4Kids.

The Baby Space man despairs.

Yes, love them, trying not to buy more than two a month. The Danish BoligLiv is my absolute favourite, and recently I've discovered the Canadian UpperCase, which is quite different, but very, very interesting.

Just popped in after seeing your linky from Maxabella Loves... and found this post. Certainly worth commenting on as I LOVE magazines too. And subscriptions... it's like Christmas every month! All your favourites are mine and last night I read from cover to cover the latest Shop 4 Kids in a bubbly bath. What bliss! Love your blog and your photographs are amazing (especially the cupcakes with those gorgeous flags)! xx
