Sleep

I have a love hate relationship with sleep. I love it when I am asleep, but I fight so hard to stay awake! I have been like since  I was born (I think??, well thats my mum tells me). I remember still being awake at midnight while everyone else was snoring in bed. I used to find being the only one awake, scary and lonely as a child.

But now I relished in it...

My husband and children are fast asleep. I am fully awake, even though I am tired and exhausted after a busy day. My head is throbbing and I can’t stop yawning. But yet I am sitting here on the computer reading blogs, listening to music with a glass of red in my hand thinking of editing more of my pictures for tomorrow’s blog post or maybe reading another chapter in my book. I just don’t want to sleep; I am enjoying the peace and solitude.

Once I give into sleep I will awake into another day of chaos, where everyone wants and needs something from me. I prefer these moments I am enjoying on my own right now. And I don't want to give them up!

This post might be a bit boring, and I do apologies. But taking pictures of flowers and trees reminds me of my Nana, Freda. She died when I was 14 years old in a car accident. I inherited a big box of her photographs; there were lots of pictures of flowers and trees inside. She loved her garden, and it feels like she is with me when I am taking pictures of my garden.

Skye of many faces...

Skye is one of a kind; I have never met anyone quite like her before! She is very animated, with constant facial expressions. I can almost always tell what she is thinking just by looking at her. She has a completely different personality to the other two (Alex & Phoenix) but she has come from the same parents, same town, same house, same rules and the same upbringing.

She will talk to complete strangers when we are out. I was looking a magazines a few weeks ago in the supermarket and Skye told a woman who was standing next to me how pretty she was, and how much she liked her pretty clothes. I started to feel embarrassed, my checks started to go red. Then I told myself not to be so silly, this is Skye she loves to talk to anyone and she can always find something nice to say. I stopped feeling so silly and started to feel proud and so blessed to be able to call this sweet little girl my own. And you know what, it properly made the women’s day to have a complete stranger randomly compliment her.

Spending time with Alex

{Alex icing cupcakes}
I have read how important it is to spend one on one time with each of your children, and I really like the idea of it. But it’s just not something I find time to do often. There aren’t enough hours in the day to include everything that I would like to do...

Alex is 12, and she is my first born. She seems to be the one who missing out on the one on one time with me the most. I think this is because she is the oldest and she needs less help with things.

This weekend Alex and I spend one on one time together, and I realised how important it really is for bonding and nurturing a good long lasting relationship with her. Alex will be entering her teenage years all too quickly and If I don’t try harder I might lose her forever.

We made cupcakes together! Then Alex and I left everyone else at home and went to the movies. Just mum and daughter hanging out, it was so much fun.

The Last Airbender was fantastic, if you like fantasy and adventure movies this one is for you! P.S it has Jackson Rathbone in it (plays Jasper in Twilight)

This Saturday I'm grateful for...Hair Clips, Flowers and my Husband

{January 2007 – Skye modelling one of my ordinal hand cut and sewn felt flower hair clips}

This Saturday I'm grateful for...

1.Hair Fairy Clips, my wonderful home grown business. I started making hair clips in October 2006, 4 years ago. Skye was 10 months old, and had this crazy Mohawk sticky up hair do, and I want to tame it so I started making my own hair clips. I sold my first handmade felt flower hair clip on EBay for $2 and I was hooked. My business has grown a lot in four years, I am so proud of everything I have achieved.

2.Spring flowers, are everywhere! I will be driving along in the car and be total distracted by all the beauty outside the window. I am lucky I haven’t had a car accident yet.

3.My husband, I have hardly seen him this week, but when I have he has been very understanding and supportive. He knows how to calm me down and relieve some of the stress of the week.

I am playing along with Maxabella loves, this fine Saturday. Be sure to check out more grateful posts today.
