Friendship

"But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away". ~Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life, 1859

{fresh Iris's on my dinning room table}

Lately I have been thinking about what it means to be a friend. Last week an old friend called me, and I haven’t spoken to her in quite awhile. She is very special to me, and I love her with all my heart. We don’t speak very often any more, our busy lives gets in our way. Her brother passed away, and I didn’t know how to comfort her. After getting off the phone I cried for a little while. I feel so sad to hear her news, and I worried that I wasn’t all that I should have been on the phone. All I did was listen; I know there is nothing I could say to make her sadness disappear. Just I still wonder if I did enough.

A walk along the foreshore

Today we all went for a small drive to Tooradin to walk along the foreshore with my mum and sister in toe. Here are some picture I took today. The lighting was crap with the midday sun high in the sky, but I still wanted to record our little adventure.

Point & Shoot – Lazy weekend

{happiness in a bottle}

This morning I am feeling refreshed and relaxed for the first time in a while. For weeks my weekends have been packed full of things to do, places to see, and people to meet. This weekend was a lazy one, I only left the house once to buy some groceries and didn’t even get out of my PJ’s at all on Sunday. I baked the most delicious sticky date pudding from scratch for desert on Saturday and drank a bottle of wine (love my bubbles). I read a good book, curled up on the couch with my husband while he watched a star trek movie marathon on foxtel. The kids were happy watching movies, playing wii games, making beaded bracelets and building things with lego. It was too bitterly cold and muddy for them to play outside. Having a weekend doing nothing much at all is good for your soul!

Playing along with fat mum slim (a fantastic blog which is a daily read for me) be sure check out all the lovely pictures of point and shoot this week.

Our Wedding

Song: Glory Box by Poitishead

Reminiscing about our wedding day, I decided to create a little slideshow this afternoon. Reuben and I were married on 1st December 2007, at The Old Cheese Factory in Berwick. We had a small intimate wedding with around 50 guests. Our best friends were in our bridal party along with our three children. I hate being the center of attention, and the feeling of being watched freaks me out. I was very nervous, but everything went according to plan and it was the perfect day!

Reuben and I have been together since 3rd December 1996. We meet while working at McDonalds. We became friends before falling in love. Shortly after getting together I moved in to his place. Within five months I was pregnant with Alex. Most guys aged 19, would leave or ask his girlfriend to have an abortion. But Reuben was and still is very supportive of all my decisions. We had another two children, Phoenix and Skye within 8 years. We are still very much in love and very happy together. I so am proud to be his wife!
